Moving
home has as reputation for being one of the most stressful and
difficult events in your life. But it doesn't have to be with proper
planning, forward thinking and the right removal company.
Many
people make the mistake of trying to move their belongings to their
new house themselves. They lack the removals experience and
underestimate how much there is to move. Most people are not used to
lifting and moving boxes so there is also a physical strain that can
cause injuries and breakages. There is usually enough to do on the
day of the move such as completing paperwork without worrying about
the removal too.
Local removal companies can provide a great service to help you move house and
selecting the right one will take a lot of of the worry from your
shoulders. The right company will pack up your belongings and move
them out of your house and into the removal lorries, without damaging
the boxes or the floors, doors and walls. They will perform the same
task at the other end when you are moving into your new house.
When
choosing a removal company, they should be readily available around
the date you want to move in case there are any changes to the house
move day. Before selecting a removals company, consider a number of
factors such as price, recommendations and the services they offer.
Check
their company web site for customer testimonials and try to get a
feel as to whether they are genuine recommendations. Ask if they have
insurance to cover the goods in transit because if your valuable
belongings do get damaged then you don't want to have to claim on
your insurance, if that is even possible. You may have to check your
house and contents insurance because many policies will not cover
moving house.
Ask
your family and friends for recommendations and also the names of any
companies they would avoid. The cheapest company may not be the most
suitable for you because they may try to cut corners by using unsafe
vehicles, not providing enough men for the job or try to rush the
move so they can move onto the next contract.
Pack
up your belongings in advance of the big day and store them somewhere
that is easily accessible but out of the way such as the garage or
shed. The boxes should be clearly marked with their contents and
which room in the new house they should be moved to.
The
removal company should do an on site visit to check what needs to be
removed, how many men will be required and the type or removal lorry
to use. You should let the removals company know of any specialist
requirements, such as antique furniture, pianos or difficult access,
for example if you are in a flat or if there is difficult vehicle
access. This will avoid any extra charges or delays on the day.
So whether your are undertaking a short move from Plymouth to Exeter or a long distance move further afield, it should be a lot easier with the right removal company.
Each time I used to always check blog posts within the first hours in the break of day, because I like to get information increasingly more.
